The Arcane Guild ([[Enchiridian]]) is an organization that was founded in the [[Shattered Age]] by the {{Category Immortals}} known as [[The Pendulum]]. It's membership are known as [[Arcanists]], one of the {{Category Paths}} of power in the setting. The guild's headquarters are in [[Acrolon]], but its membership is represented throughout the {{Category Shards}}.

=Lore=

Common lore about the Arcane Guild is well known in educated cultures, though plenty of superstition and misunderstanding prevails in less educated societies. Deep lore about the Arcane Guild is tightly guarded by the guild itself.

=History=

The Arcane Guild was founded by Pendulum around 70 [[SC]].

=Etymology=

The word ''arcane'' was bestowed upon the organization externally. It was used to describe the organization because of their incredibly secretive nature and the unknown sources of their power.

=Membership=

Membership is only provided by invitation from the Guildmaster, Pendulum. Candidates who receive an invitation are brought to the Aetherium. There they are tested by a device called [[The Anomaly]]. After being tested, candidates either go permanently mad or gain access to the arcane arts, becoming Arcanists. It's important to note that even those who are driven mad by the tests gain some arcane power, and are granted membership to the guild, they are just kept secure in service to the guild.

At any point in time, there are typically between 24 and 36 members of the guild, not include Pendulum.

=Leadership=

The Arcane Guild is led by [[The Pendulum]], known more commonly as The Guildmaster or the High Arcanist. Other leaders include a council of powerful Arcanists that rotate between individual pursuits and leadership roles within the guild.
