The historical ages of the universe are the largest units of measured time, lasting hundreds or thousands of years. There are six historical ages, occurring in the following chronological order:
- The Lost Age: Unknown duration until The Founding
- 1E Campaigns
- The First Age: Unknown duration
- Founding: Bastion appears in the universe
- Foundation War: Paragons wielding Foundation technology, allied with Immortals, wage war with the Titans and win
- Integration: Titans and their minions are imprisoned within The Apparatus, The Integrum is constructed
- The Gilded Age: 907 years
- The Shattering: Cataclysm ends The Gilded Age
- Mortal Realm is split into four, one of which vanishes
- Hole is punched in The Divine Realm, creating The Abyss
- The Shattering: Cataclysm ends The Gilded Age
- The Shattered Age
- First Godswar
- Distinct races manifest in the realm shards
- Inter-shard contact
- Patternsailing is a dangerous, rare form contact
- Strange Sea sailing is a dangerous more common form of contact
- Lastly, Hidden Form portals become
- Psychosis because they are all shards of each other
- Migrations between shards
- Strange manifests
- Obyrith, then Lost, then Arcadia (in Dark Age)
- Barigor Wars
- Acrolon accidentally open a portal to Tonwei, starting the invasion
- Patternsails and Portals are built on pieces of the Orrery (Patternsail beacons can be used to make new Portals)
- Tanari Invasions
- They create a dark star that corrupts the minds of scholars who study it, creating Tanari cults
- Contact with Kasyat is lost
- 2E, 3E Campaigns
- The Dark Age:
- Sun goes out in all shards
- Shards lose contact with each other
- Patternsailing stops working
- Shardgates stop working (Except for the Dark Empire Acrolon, who use Demons and Shadow Magic)
- 4E Campaigns
- The Dawn Age, beginning with The New Dawn and lasting to the present day
- 5E Campaigns
