The historical ages of the universe are the largest units of measured time, lasting hundreds or thousands of years. There are six historical ages, occurring in the following chronological order:

  1. The Lost Age: Unknown duration until The Founding
    1. 1E Campaigns
  2. The First Age: Unknown duration
    1. Founding: Bastion appears in the universe
    2. Foundation War: Paragons wielding Foundation technology, allied with Immortals, wage war with the Titans and win
    3. Integration: Titans and their minions are imprisoned within The Apparatus, The Integrum is constructed
  3. The Gilded Age: 907 years
    1. The Shattering: Cataclysm ends The Gilded Age
      1. Mortal Realm is split into four, one of which vanishes
      2. Hole is punched in The Divine Realm, creating The Abyss
  4. The Shattered Age
    1. Distinct races manifest in the realm shards
    2. Inter-shard contact
      1. Patternsailing is a dangerous, rare form contact
      2. Strange Sea sailing is a dangerous more common form of contact
      3. Lastly, Hidden Form portals become
    3. First Godswar
      1. Psychosis because they are all shards of each other
    4. Migrations between shards
    5. Strange manifests
      1. Obyrith, then Lost, then Arcadia (in Dark Age)
    6. Barigor Wars
      1. Acrolon accidentally open a portal to Tonwei, starting the invasion
      2. Patternsails and Portals are built on pieces of the Orrery (Patternsail beacons can be used to make new Portals)
    7. Tanari Invasions
      1. They create a dark star that corrupts the minds of scholars who study it, creating Tanari cults
    8. Contact with Kasyat is lost
    9. 2E, 3E Campaigns
  5. The Dark Age:
    1. Sun goes out in all shards
    2. Some shards merge together (failed attempt at reformat by the Founders), including the Acrolon/Pelithos/Tonwei (and Kasyat at the end of the Dark Age)
    3. 4E Campaigns
  6. The Dawn Age, beginning with The New Dawn and lasting to the present day
    1. 5E Campaigns
