Plygian fey are those fey that tried to avoid the Endless Night through magical means.
Some among the oread and dryad took the Potion of Slumber. This protected them from Night corruption by turning them into monoliths and trees, respectively. Their souls asleep in these mindless forms, they were not affected by Night corruption. However, as they began to awaken in the Dawn Age, they found they had lingering side effects from their slumber. Their bodies retained much of their slumbering forms, they were no longer unaging (though still quite long-lived), and were prone to long sleep cycles. These newly awakened became known as lithic (oread descendants) and dendric (dryad descendants).
Some among the alseid were afflicted by the Queensplague. This magical blessing (or curse) suddenly stripped them suddenly of their immortality. Thus, aging and dying as other mortals, they were able to avoid the permanent Night corruption. These alseid became known as the cherseid.
