Adjacent is a quality of Realms. A realm which is adjacent to another realm is physically connected so that standard movement through space allows travel between the realms. An example of adjacent realms are Shards and the Astra Sky. If one were to fly high enough into the sky of a Shard, they would eventually reach the Astral Sky.
