History
Dryad are one of the original bloodlines of fey that were awakened on Pelithos during the Gilded Age. Dryad patternsails travelling to Acrolon later in the Gilded Age encountered tanondir and were afflicted by Anyot's Curse, taking on pardine forms. These cat-like dryad became known as mandragora.
When the Dark Age began, all fey were faced with the Endless Night. Unlike other mortals, the unaging fey would become irreversibly corrupted by the moon's darkness.
- Some dryad took a magical concoction called the Potion of Slumber. This potion transformed the dryad into tree-like creatures whose slumbering spirits were protected from the corruption of Night. These very tree-like dryad became known as the dendric.
- Some dryad persisted in the Dark Age and were corrupted by Night. These evil dryad became known as nightshade. Nightshade deeply resent other types of dryad, especially the true dryad.
- A handful of dryad were personally powerful enough to protect themselves from the corruption of Night. These are the only true dryad left, and they are extremely rare.
